Born January 7, 1953 Detroit, Michigan. Started my Martial Arts training in 1967 in Shotokan Karate. Received my Gokyu in Shotokan and then the school closed. Started Judo while in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1972. Discharged in 1977 and continued my training with Jesse Cosmo Sensei. Received my Shodan from Cosmo Sensei December 13, 1983 from the Budokan Judo Association. Went to train with Roland Leone at the New Baltimore Judo Club. Took over as instructor for the club in 1983 and taught there till 1992 and Returned to train with Cosmo Sensei. While in Canada attending a tournament I met Tatsuo Mitsubura founder of Dai Nippon Judo-Jujitsu Kai. I started training with him and received Nidan in 1986. In 1992 Mitsubura Sensei passed away and his son Paul took over. I was made Michigan Chairman for Dai Nippon Judo-Jujitsu Kai and promoted to Sandan Judo Shodan Jujitsu. I was promoted Yodan Judo, Nidan Jujitsu in 1996. March 1999 I was made Director of Operation for the association because of Paul's transfer of employment which didn't leave him much time to run the association and was promoted to Sandan Jujitsu. June 1, 1999 I was made Vice President of the association and promoted to Rokudan Judo and Godan Jujitsu. On January 12, 2002 I was inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame Man of the Year Jujitsu. On September 15, 2004 I was promoted to Shichidan and made head of Dai Nippon Judo-Jujitsu Kai due to the passing of Mitsubura Katsumi (Paul).
